Why Try Our Forever Slim Diet?

(My Personal Story)

I remained at my portly weight for a few more years till I made the big decision once again that it was time to go on a diet. Same scenario. Restrict your eating. Lose weight quickly. Look and feel great. Crave more food. Slowly give in. Begin putting weight back on. Give up completely. Get back up to portly weight.
Only this time, something even worse happened. I ended up weighing eight pounds more than when I started my second diet. Very depressing! Very unhealthy!
I gradually learned to live with my new portly-plus self. But I didn’t like how I felt. I wanted to look slim like I did in my 20s. So I decided to go on my third diet. I told myself I would not suffer through another frustrating bout of yo-yo dieting. This time I was going to lose weight and keep it off.
I decided I needed a plan. Instead of impulsively starting on another diet, I would lay out a routine for myself that could make me successful at losing weight and permanently keeping it off.
At that point in my engineering career, I had solved many complicated problems. I told myself that I had a personal problem that needed solving. My problem of course was that I could lose weight but I couldn’t keep it off.
I decided I’d approach this personal dilemma just like I approached engineering problems. So I sat down and did a detailed analysis of my problem. Fortunately, I had two experiences of yo-yo dieting that helped me come up with a solution.
The conclusion I reached after thoroughly analyzing my problem was that I had tried to change my eating habits too quickly. My mind and my body couldn’t adapt to the rapid change in my lifestyle. I fell into a trap when I quickly lost weight. By restricting my eating, I lost weight in a hurry. But my body couldn’t adjust.
I concluded that in order to lose weight and permanently keep it off, I would have to make small, simple changes a little at a time and then practice them until they became a part of my life.
I sat down and laid out a systematic plan to solve my problem.
And I’m here to tell you that it worked. I lost weight, got down to what I weighed in my 20s and have stayed there for more than 10 years.

I’ve decided to share my plan with you in what I call the Forever Slim diet.

I outlined my plan in the form of a workbook to guide dieters along the path of losing weight and permanently keeping it off. After I completed the workbook, I asked several dieticians and nutritionists to critique my new plan. One of those dieticians, Kelly Strigenz, suggested so many excellent ideas that I asked her to co-author You Forever Slim with me.
And so, an engineer and a registered dietician are offering you a simple, easy plan to lose weight and keep it off for the rest of your life. You’ve probably heard that before (a simple, easy plan to lose weight). But this diet is unlike any other. It’s based on sound systematic planning (by an engineer) and on sound dieting and nutrition (by a dietician).
And it sure worked for me.
