When I was in my 20s and 30s I developed some really bad eating habits. I ate and drank whatever I wanted whenever I wanted. In my 20s my metabolism kept my weight in check. I quickly got back to what I weighed in my early 20s. Friends I hadn’t seen in a while began doing a double take followed by “Did you lose weight? You look really good.”
Receiving kudos like this kept me going on my diet. But as time passed, I couldn’t live with this restricted eating. I started gaining weight, and within a year I was back to what I weighed when I started my first-ever diet. This was depressing. And, as I later learned, very unhealthy too.
